Early Childhood Overview

The early childhood program at Saint Paul’s School is designed to be the beginning of an integrated learning process, contributing to the development of the whole child. The program includes a preschool class for three- and four-year olds, and three prekindergarten classes for four- and five-year olds. Program eligibility is determined using an August 1st birthday deadline. The curriculum is age-appropriate and multi-sensory so that children can develop a broad foundation for learning and thinking.

The comprehensive early childhood curriculum stresses the value of play and includes experiences for children to achieve the following:

  • develop gross and fine motor skills
  • learn how to relate to peers and be a part of a group
  • develop a strong, cognitive foundation in language and spatial relationships
  • enrich their language and verbal skills in listening and speaking
  • develop a healthy and positive self-concept
  • express their curiosity and creativity

The faculty provides learning experiences that respect each child’s individual developmental level. The early childhood program is accredited by the Florida Kindergarten Council, the National Association of Independent Schools,  as well as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Florida Council of Independent Schools.
