Language Arts development begins formally in prekindergarten with application of the Letter People Program, which playfully introduces letter-sound correspondence. In kindergarten. letter and sound development is further developed through the use of Beginning Reading, Writing and Learning text from MacMillan McGraw Hill. Beginning in first grade and carried through fifth grade, the core program is based on the Open Court Reading program, a strong combination of phonics development and literature experience. Spelling, grammar, and writing skills are integrated into the overall program. |
