In middle school, students utilize the study and organizational skills learned in lower school in navigating the challenging curriculum. Advanced classes in language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, and French or Spanish are supplemented by classes in art, computer, health, music, and physical education. Teachers emphasize critical thinking, problem solving, study skills, hands-on activities, and cooperative projects. As part of the college preparatory mission, semester exams are given in winter and spring. Standardized tests are administered and used to measure scholastic growth.
The most important element in the success of a school is, of course, its academic base. Saint Paul's offers a rigorous curriculum providing students with a wide range of studies. An extensive library, a state-of-the-art technology center and science labs support course work throughout the middle school years. |
