Ways to Give

Cash
Gifts of cash are the most common form of support to Saint Paul's and checks should be made payable to Saint Paul's School and sent to:
Saint Paul's School
1600 St. Paul's Drive
Clearwater, Florida 33764

Credit Cards
We can accept gifts made by VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover credit cards. Please call (727)536-2756, ext. 542 or 528 to make a gift by phone.

Pledges
Rather than making an outright cash gift, you may wish to pledge your contribution over a period of time. Although pledges to the Annual Fund do not extend beyond six-nine months, Legacy Campaign pledges may be made over three-five years depending on the amount. Please check with the Development Office for more information. Whether for the Annual Fund or the Legacy Campaign, the Development Office sends pledge payment reminders.

Matching Gifts
Many companies will match the contributions which employees (sometimes even retired employees) make to tax-exempt independent schools. You can double - and sometimes triple - your gift through a Matching Gift Program. Simply complete and enclose your company's matching gift form along with your check. We offer gift recognition for the amount of your gift plus the match. Please note that matching gifts do not increase your charitable deduction.

Gifts In Kind
Saint Paul's welcomes donations such as computers, software, office furniture, classroom supplies, landscape material, library books, athletic equipment, tickets to cultural events, art work, and various other items related to our educational program. The Development Office will be happy to help you determine gift acceptibility. Gift value is determined by the donor through appraisal or a record of purchase.

Securities
Gifts of appreciated publicly traded securities can bring you tax savings by offering two significant advantages: 1. you avoid paying capital gains on the increased value of the stock; and 2. you receive a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stock when the gift is made. In order to do this, your stock generally must have been held long-term (more than 12 months). Please contact Laura Flannigan, Director of Development, at (727)537-2756, ext. 528 for more information.

Planned Gifts
There are many giving options available to our donors. With careful planning, you can enjoy both the satisfaction of making a meaningful charitable gift during your lifetime and the resulting substantial income and estate tax advantages. Planning your gift now may also enable you to make a larger gift than you might have been otherwise able to provide through a cash or a pledged gift. Please contact Laura Flannigan, Director of Development, for any questions you may have regarding a planned gift to Saint Paul's.

Some common options include:

Bequests: A bequest is a charitable gift made through a donor's will and is the simplest and most common form of a planned gift. The advantage of making a gift through a bequest is that the donor does not have to part with any assets until after death. Thus, gift and estate taxes are reduced or avoided. Distributions can be made either as a specific dollar amount or as a percentage of the estate. The donor can often make more significant gifts through a bequest than could be afforded during his or her lifetime.

Life Insurance Gifts: The contribution of a life insurance policy can provide a significant gift in a manner which can be especially attractive to younger donors. By designating the School as both the owner and beneficiary of a life insurance policy, the premiums are tax deductible to the donor.

Charitable Trusts: An easily established charitable trust can provide a current charitable deduction for you in addition to income for you and/or the School during your lifetime. This gift has the potential to increase income the donor may be currently receiving from low-yielding stocks. The income must be distributed to you, your spouse or other designee; at the end of the term of the trust the assets would be distributed to the School.

Please consult your attorney, accountant or tax advisor to find out which options are most appropriate for your personal, financial and estate planning circumstances.
